The Children's Center of Wayne County
The mission is clear: to help children and families shape their own futures. The Children’s Center leads the way in providing an integrated approach to community mental health that treats the whole child and the whole family.
The Children’s Center offers more than 20 programs that support the physical and mental challenges faced by over 100,000 vulnerable children in Greater Detroit. If your child is suffering, they can help. The children they serve battle their pain and fears everyday. The children are the true heroes. Through counseling and therapy, their children confront the demons of neglect, poverty, and abuse, fighting for a better future.

Summer in the City
Summer in the City was founded in 2002 to change the way young people volunteer in Detroit and the impact their work has on the city and region. The organization’s work is concentrated in the summer months, when they Paint, Plant, and Play — creating murals, building and maintaining urban gardens, and running youth enrichment programs.
Last summer, an average of 200 volunteers per day contributed their time and energy to projects throughout Detroit. Since Summer in the City began, over 5500 volunteers have performed 175,000 hours of high-impact community service. While the program has grown dramatically since its inception, it has always maintained the core principles of youth empowerment, diversity, inclusiveness, and sustainability.
